meditation, made simple.

Mindfulness and meditation have gained a lot of popularity over the last years, and a lot of people have dipped their toes into it, maybe to accompany their yoga practice. However, a lot of people are also struggling to build a regular meditation practice or feel daunted by the concept of meditation - maybe think they're 'not doing it right'. This course is perfect for you if you’re completely new to mindfulness meditation or if you’ve tried to meditate but couldn't find a way 'in'.

In an intimate group of 6-12 participants and over the course of six weeks, we'll slowly build our understanding of what mindfulness meditation is (and what it's not) and explore different facets of it. You’ll get to hear short talks and receive guided meditations, and each session will leave plenty of time for questions and answers as well as pointers for how to integrate the practice into your everyday life.

Frequently Asked Questions

Each of the sessions will build upon the previous ones, so it is important that you attend all six sessions. Practising meditation in a group can be really precious, and by being together as a constant group we’ll be creating our little ‘sangha’ - our little community - in which everyone can feel safe.

If you’re generally able to attend the whole course but one date doesn’t work for you, please get in touch and we can explore how to make it work!

You don’t need to have any experience in meditation - this course will teach you all you need to know even if you’ve never heard of or tried meditation before. That being said, you’re equally welcome if you do have experience in meditation! There are lots of different approaches to meditation out there, and chances are this approach - mindfulness meditation, also called insight meditation or vipassana - differs from what you’ve done before. And finally, approaching things with a ‘beginner’s mind’ is part of the practice, so even experienced meditators can benefit from taking this course.

The image of a person sitting cross-legged on the floor (or maybe even in lotus pose) for hours on end without moving is quite a persistent misconception about what meditating should look like. The reality is that for most people, this is hindering more than it is helpful. Part of this course will consist of exploring different modes for meditation and finding a position that supports your practice rather than creating a barrier. There will be bolsters, yoga mats, blankets, blocks, and some stools and armchairs available in the space that you can experiment with, and you're welcome to bring any other props that are supportive to you.

Please know that everyone is welcome to this course! We’ll work with whatever accessibility needs arise.

You’re in the right place! In this course, one of the first things you’ll learn is that meditating doesn’t mean you have to stop thinking. Rather, it is about noticing when thoughts arise - or any other sensations or emotions - and being present with them.

There are lots of studies out there that have looked at (and found) benefits of meditation for our bodies, our minds and brains, our focus, our self-esteem and our relationships - you can read more here

You probably won’t feel like a whole new person after the six weeks of the course - but if you start embedding more and more mindful moments into your day, you might start small changes fairly quickly. Maybe you’re feeling less stressed, or less reactive, or you notice tiny beautiful things more. If you’ve got quite an active lifestyle, meditation also offers a great counter balance and can help you to slow down a bit.

Please get in touch by sending an email to lara.mindfullcircle.com and I'll get back to you.
